Numbers travel. Notes change.

Roman numerals describe a chord’s place in a key. In C major, ii–V–I is D minor → G major → C major. Change the key, and the relationship stays the same.

Add color. A seventh adds depth; a ninth adds air. Try Dm9 → G9 → Cmaj9 in the chord lab to hear the difference.

Change the bass. An inversion moves the lowest note to the top. The chord keeps its identity, but the movement feels different.
